Dandruff appears mostly because of genetic disposition rather than environmental factors. However, there are assumptions that dandruff is a very mild form of seborrhoeic dermatitis - a type of skin inflammatory disorder that causes prominent skin peeling - or fungal development. Naturally, the skin cells of the scalp peel just as in any other region of the body. But the hair holds the peeled parts and therefore, makes the dandruff.
There are many commercial dandruff treatments out there such as dandruff shampoos but the problem is their short-lasting effect. As soon as you stop your treatment, dandruff has the tendency to reappear, sometimes even worse than before. Plus, some of these products may contain strong chemicals which can be harmful to the skin or even hair in the long run. Therefore, natural treatments be natural commercial products or DIY remedies are a far better option for dandruff as it is holistic and a safer option.
